Smith Foundry Company Upgrades to Latest ISO Standard

On the 2nd of February, 2017, Smith Foundry successfully completed its audit and was certified as ISO 9001:2015 compliant.

The upgrade from ISO 9001:2008 was months in the planning, and was an all-hands-on-deck affair.  Smith’s adoption of the new standard was facilitated by support from Enterprise Minnesota.

Corey Bacon, recently promoted to Manufacturing Manager, spear-headed the effort internally.  From Sales to Quality Management, Strategy Development to Purchasing, the effort helped overhaul nearly all of Smith’s internal processes.

"Using the ISO standard the way it is meant to be used, as a management tool, is key to the success of our business, and adds real value to our customer experience," says Neil Ahlstrom, Smith Foundry Company's CEO.

Smith Foundry serves some of the nation’s most sophisticated OEMs.  Those customers deserve the same level of sophistication from their supply chain.  After 94 years of continuous operation, Smith Foundry continues to build toward its future.
